  • I don't know if this was a scam or not but I had my partner order me a ride. She used her account and gifted it to me so my phone would ping the GPS and then she went into a meeting. I stood in the location spot, my location and the pin were right on top of each other. I waited and waited then it went back to the home screen. I had my partner order me the ride because her paypal was linked to her account not our joint account and I had to get to work. She was in a meeting she couldn't answer her phone during. I had to call my boss and be I don't know what happened. Twenty minutes later partner calls and asks why there is a $5 no show. I explain I saw no driver, I was on the pin. I never got a text or a call or anything. She contacted Uber and got refunded and I was late to work with a new driver. Again I don't know if it was a scam but I was horrified by it happening. I have used Lyft since, as I had nothing but problems with Uber and their customer support is subpar or nonexistent.

  • I gave a driver a one star rating because he was seriously unsafe. He couldn't find my pick up spot, (it was an official pick up spot with the sign and everything, many other drivers have actually commented on how visible it is.) He made me walk to the end of the block (not a normal block like twenty feet, an industrial complex in a rather shady area after dark.) When I got in the car he insulted me by saying I should have been in a better spot and wearing brighter clothes, I was leaving work, the uniform is black. He asked why my husband let me go to work, when I mentioned my girlfriend and I both work second shift so we can spend our mornings together he asked me what was wrong with men, didn't I want a husband to take care of me. Then he kept making like half come ons while not stopping for stop signs, speeding up when faced with yellow lights, trying to merge into other cars, texting while driving and getting in a very loud yelling match with someone on the phone.

Finally he missed my exit, I live in the city, the GPS has already rerouted to the next exit and it would have added maybe half a mile. He came to a dead stop IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC and backed up until he could go over into the exit, blew the red light at the top of the ramp. When I had him drop me off at the store at the end of my block(where I have all drivers drop me for my own peace of mind) he accused me of being racist for not showing him where I lived and a man hater cause why else would I be with (homophobic slur for lesbians.)

He was already getting a one star rating simply for the stop in the middle of the freeway, it had gone to three the first stop sign he blew, two when I saw him texting and shouting on the phone but now I was scared, mad and overwhelmed. I went into the store, told security about him in case he tried to follow me. Called my girlfriend to walk up so we could walk home together. Went into the app and spent twenty minutes in a chat with customer service. They took his rating for me off the app (1 star no surprise) sent my report on to the police for the illegal car actions. Based on his low rating before that I wonder if they suspended him.

I like a quiet driver and a clean car but even if a driver is a chatty person with music that I don't like I will give five stars if they are safe and respectful. I try as a rider not to be a pain in the ass. I don't ask for charging or AUX cables, I make sure I am not stinky even out of work and I don't wear perfume. I make sure my bag and clothes are clean and nothing scratches the seats, I always wear my seatbelt, my phone is on vibrate, I wear headphones and don't talk on the phone. I only asked once for AC to be turned down because I had forgotten my sweater and just got out of a hot kitchen so I was freezing. It takes very little for me to hit five stars and a high tip. I know it's kind of a sucky job and I appreciate that it exists but that guy should not have been driving and I had to watch over my shoulder the whole way home in case his little blue car pulled out to follow me.
