I’m a Uber driver in NYC. Now most Uber drivers have some kind of set up on their iPhone that they can see the destination of the rider before they accept the request. I see the when I am waiting at JFK or LAG. They don’t accept the short trips, and then that shot trip request end up to come to us who can’t see the destination. This is a very unfair to new driver like me to always get short trips after hours of waiting at airport. Uber should do something to stop them or change the app for everybody to see the destination.

Thanks!  Yes, Uber and Lyft have been showing the expected ride time in test markets and/or drivers who qualify.  I will update the original guru answer.

Not sure about Uber, but there's a trick to see Lyft destination before accepting. You can use the Mystro app to see Lyft ride destination before accepting the trip. Only works on iPhone though.

I'm frustrated about this and don't know where to post it.... I use both uber and lift but I like to use uber more for personal reasons. The only horrible thing about uber is what happened to me today; I only have 4 hours to do uber, I started at 7 am and had my mind set for 11 am. I set uber to return me home by 11. Uber gave me a trip without any information about the destination and so I accepted, when I got to the rider and started the ride in the app... I read 2 hours drive..  I guess it is true because I will have a 2 hours drive TO OTHER STATE and then another 2 hours drive back home without being able to activate the app. I spent $35 on gas... and they paid me 125. I need to make these people understand some of us have a limited time to drive and don't want long rides at certain times. I'm so frustrated I'm running out of words.

on Lyft there is a Scheduled Ride section (sort of like a job board) it displays avaialble scheduled rides probably with pickup somewhere within 10 mile radius of where you are at the moment of looking at that screen. On this screen you will see pickup and drop off locations and approximate fare, so that is an instance where drivers can see destination :) and of course in Destination filter mode, while you can't see destination exactly you do have an idea of general direction since ou are the one who entered the destination filter :)

Good call about the scheduled rides.  Yes, Lyft drivers can see the destination and accept them if there are requests in the scheduled queue.
