nah. come on. business travelers are well connected and love using new techs. People who still take taxis are those hailing them on the streets or gramps who still pick up the phone and call.
NYC here. I can confirm this is true. I am a grad student at NYU and the club I am in allows me to interact with the current undergrads. None of them understant that those dome lights tell you when the cab is available or not.
I honestly wonder if they know how to even hail one. I can imagine how it may be a weird concept if you aren't used to it. or grew up with it.

I don't think so? but I knew a girl who got her hedgehog certified as a therapy animal so I guess anything is really possible...
