Here is the news: Passengers rate the ride and not the driver.
Social dynamics of when people share a ride affect the ratings. If riders are matched up with others that are pleasant, they will rate higher and vice versa.
I don't necessarily blame them for doing this. One it's human nature. Two, they should somehow provide feedback to Uber that their experience wasn't great. No, the drivers shoudn't get dinged for this, something out of their control, but I see why customers would incorporate how their experience was.
I feel like I need to intervene to how people are reacting all the time. Say when a guy starts hitting on a girl and she is obviously a bit uncomfortable. No, we shouldn't have to be responsible for that, but I do take it on myself to make the experience a good for everyone.
Tough topic.
Just another something that won't help the real issue but end up increasing nuisance and expenses for the innocent (drivers).
Yeah, my driver app doesn't work. It keeps telling me I make waaaay less than what Uber promised me, surge function no longer works, and somehow Uber's take-home is whopping 50~70% lower than what they promised be at 25~%.
I’ve nevr seen one. Are they big?
Maybe I can tie them to the top of my car.
Do you think current UberX drivers can also do Lime charging? Picking them up while on the job?
I am not sure where you charge these things. Do I bring them home and then, once charged, do I bring them back to certain locations? If so, how long do I have to put them back? Can I, for example, do my regular UberX gig all day, picking up 30 scooters. Then charge them overnight? Then the next day I disperse them through out my UberX shift.
What I am attracted to here is the ability to mesh this into my days as an Uber driver. Then we got something.
I am pretty sure you are in the clear. People used to submit a request to Uber or Lyft and move all over the place. The insurance is a big thing, but I think you got that covered.
The problem recently is that there are so many state laws that come into play. So Uber may not necessarily care but the state enforces it on them. So I think you need to check with Uber and see if it flies.
Some dude is trying to sell "taxi partitions for rideshare drivers."

A bit ghetto:
This considers for your time spent, which has been a huge feedback from the drivers complaining about wasted time. I am all for it.
Sure, long drives are often nice, but we all know working in the busy areas, we are inundated with shorter trips. I welcome this change that makes me motivated to work more than keep hoping for longer trips.
I don’t wash the exterior of the car during winter. I do have a white car so maybe it doesn’t show as much but do you think it affects tipping or customer impression?
I do work harder to keep the interior clean, and that’s a whole another challenge.
I used to have a place that’d let me use their vacuum for free if you were a Uber driver. I did get all my fuel there.
Gonna stay home, thanks. The surges aren’t worth it. Hours in line. Impossible to find your rider. Too much headache.
Do you really have ask for ID? Good for you. Super uncomfortable.
Well, one thing non-drivers don't know is that we know your darkest secrets. We take people trying to hide their tracks and it is very obvious when they are up to no good.
Do not mess with your driver!
Well, I really don't mind seeing a website address or even a company name. Too many red flags.
Sure, man. If I had any money leftover from working for Uber and paying all the expenses.
...like there's any left...
I'd go 10mph over no problem for a decent tip. I am talking like 50% tip though.
"Uber is offering the cost of college tuition for its top drivers or their families as part of its new Uber Pro program "
It's almost mocking me. What would I do with a college degree? I drive a damn Uber. (and my kids are grown up. LOL)
So you are wondering how much Uber pays on average for the insurance premium.
You know their coverage, right? They cover for the portions of drivers' day where they are on the way to the destination and while they are driving passengers. This insurance policy is most likely a part of the master agreement Uber has negotiated with the insurance companies. I would think there is a different contract and pricing for individual markets, while considering various factors like miles driven, rides expected, driver's driving records, etc. As part of this negotiation, I am sure Uber is mandated to perform background checks, provide driver history, etc. so the insurance companies can come up with a proper premium.
Since Uber isn't a public company, we don't know, right? However, once they become a public company, they may give us the total expenditure on driver insurance. Divide that by the number of drivers, and you would get how much Uber spends on each driver.

What are free items?
how much is a snicker bars?
My biggest question, of course, is whether I can make more money stocking the items myself and NOT paying commissions.
I totally would advertise inside my car for a 100 pounds. I wonder this all the time actually, because I know regular taxis. Having no ads make me feel like money is being wasted.
Then again, the big downside is that my customers may not be happy with annoying ads in front of their faces.
