Uber is Making Big Changes in California for Drivers! Is all this due to CA AB5?
I welcome these changes over the past month culminating with commission caps at 25%, showing destination, bringing the old surge …
Deadmiling is always a major issue with drivers during late hours. We don't know where we're going before we pick you up. Most of the time when we're taken out of the city core to suburbs, we won't get a trip back and will have to deadmile. Basically, making those trip money losers for the drivers.
Not if UBER, Lyft and Doordash are willing to spend 90 million to bring it to a state referendum. They'll fight all the way, it'll be a battle. However, as a deterrent it was timely, theyve gone way too far abusing the gig workers. If there was a survey of all drivers of these companies, what would you say the numbers would be? I'd guess it'll be a very high percentage in the unsatisfied camp.
Lyft has been on a roll since their IPO they have cut rates in about 12 to 14 cities to ridiculous levels they have also reduced the destination filter from 6 to 2 they are totally out of control
It's a rudderless ship about to hit the iceberg. They fired over 800 people but are going to hire 2000 in Chicago and 3000 in Dallas, oh well
Got to make a judgement call but most of the time it's pretty obvious, also pay attention to your pickup address, such as elementary, middle or high school.
It's been there for a while, they deduct 4 cents a mile from your pay, basically you're paying for it. The OP made it sound like it's related to AB5, has nothing to do with it
I agree, very difficult proposition but they should have dire consequences for the rider, they could add a tab on the drover app where the driver could alert Uber about underage passengers, then UBER can deactivate them like they do with drivers
No, unfortunately you can’t specify the gender of the driver. What you can do is request a ride on Uber or Lyft, if the match is not a female driver, cancel then try again. You won’t be charged a cancellation fee if you you do right away.
I was going to get it but decided not to after hearing the limits on it but the approval process after an accident that my friends had to go through. You know there's no free meal.
It's by AON insurance in CA, you pay 4 cents a mile for it, they deduct it from your fare on each ride.
Fascinating story of a veteran cabby, his feeling regarding other drivers for U/L are very surprising.
That disability insurance they're offering has been there for over a year, you're paying for it and they charge you 4 cents a mile. I've had friends who tried to use it, it takes forever to get it approved, by the time they approve it, you're not disabled any longer.
😆, thank you
They are, they also are doing a lot more spot checks with their face recognition software on Uber.
Uber XL, most X cars may not be able to accommodate 3 large pieces of luggage unless two in the trunk one on the front passenger seat, however the driver may not want to do it.
Not the norm, you're just an exceptional pax, most Express Pool riders don't know what corner of an intersection to go before pick-up, maybe their compass is busted 😆
Thank you Lilly, his experiences of 20 years of being a veteran cabbie could make a great movie.
Add to that if the pax is drunk, doing a pickup at bar close is a nightmare when 100 riders are looking for their drivers. How difficult is it to check a license plate? I guess very difficult if you're smashed.
Once they deactivate a driver, it's very difficult to get back on the platform, switch to Uber.
LAX could be very lucrative if you know what you're doing. Especially, if you can catch a ride on surge but a lot of tricks are necessary in order to get a long surge ride. Unfortunately, higher platforms on Uber are allowed to jump in front of the x cars and chew them all up. City driving is definitely rewarding if you know how to position yourself correctly.
