  • Not sure article didnt give those details. I assume via credit card or your uber rider account.

  • No not yet. Havent had much time to read.:)

  • I didnt explain very well what I was asking. First would you spend that much to fight AB5? As CEO what would you do to make drivers want to scrap (if they had that choice) AB5? What would you do to make things better for drivers so other cities dont follow CA? Sorry should've been more clear

4 years ago in  Uber made $500M on "Safe ride fee" aka "booking fee"

They made a video for drivers about "safety". As we all know there are many issues with rider safety and lets face it no "safety" for drivers. We are easily replaced. A driver and their passenger were just killed by another pool passenger on drugs. They say they used it for background checks. Crappy 3rd party backround checks. Be cheaper for driver to pay their own background check 10.00 per yr. Our booking fee in my market ranges from 1.25 to 1.50 depending on the day. I emailed Uber about the booking fee changing from day to day sometimes trip to trip. They never answered.

  • Maybe on Uber:) How can drivers be making $30.00 per hr when pickups are 15/20 min away, rider chose Shared to save .50, the rider goes 3 min up the street and Lyft takes 35/40% of the fare?

  • Yes some in NJ and PA.

  • There is one in Vineland NJ that I know of. There are quite a few in PA that I know of (over 10). The ine we went to had a BBQ (big grill) on site. You could order full platters. Take some chairs or spread a blanket out and sit outside or sit in your car. The back of my SUV all seats lay flat. Open the hatch park backwards put seats down throw down a blanket & few pillows comfortable and perfect view. My parents used to take us on Friday nights as we had one up the street. Pj's on snacks and off we went.  As teenagers it was $5.00 per carload. We would pack everyone in even in the trunk. Great memories. Also 15 min from home was the Lincoln XXX movies. As kids we woukd alwats try to catch a peek as we drove by. Lol  Their was a Hotel next door that certain rooms could see the screen. Then there was another hotel across the street 4 hrs $17.00. You could watch the movie and then go grab a room. All it cost you was $22.00 for movie & a room. Lol

I took my kids to their first one about 7 yrs ago while we were on vacation. They loved it. Unfortunately about 3 hrs after the drive in I ended up being take by ambulance to the nearest hospital. Oh what fun that was. Me admitted to the hospital with 4 kids stuck in a hotel room. I begged doc to let me go but he sat sat by my bedside begging me not to sign out AMA. So I thought if a doc was nice enough to take the time to sit at my bedside begging me to stay it was probably a good idea not to sign myself out. Thankfully my kids were not real young (16, 12, 8, & 7). There was a McDonalds within walking distance. Got my ex to come up the next day to pick them up as we were 2.5 hrs from home. The best was when my next support payment was due from him he subtracted 75.00 from it for gas and tolls:) So nice of him to charge me to come pick up his kids who were living in a hotel room for 36hrs with no adult and nothing but McDonalds food:)

  • If the movie was good and the riders were not annoying I would do it. Lets say we would be there for 3 hrs. I would probably charge you $20/$25 per hour (approx what I would make driving.  Would also depend if you are nice & if I had a good time:) I would also need an Icetea and a fruit salad:)  For 3 hrs Uber would pay me $20/$27 so not worth it.  Would have to go with cash. I have a great vehicle for drive in movie also:) I would even go to the snack bar for you to get your snacks during the movie:) Let me know when you are ready to go. Lol

  • Who knows why some drivers do what they do. If it was Lyft I may of had an answer for you. Since it was Uber I dont. On lyft when the driver gets close to you say around the block they can click "arrived" they are then able to see your destination. Too long, too short, somewhere they dont want to go they will cancel. They cant do this on too many trips as cancellations can get you into some trouble. We do have some leeway though. Last week I was on both apps, Uber & Lyft. I accepted the Uber request as it was first and I was going to sign off on Lyft when a request came through for the same person. So I declined Lyft shut it off went to pickup. After the guy, his family, and his luggage were all in the car and I started the trip I said, "btw I seen you also ordered Lyft", you playing the see who gets there first game"? He had no idea what to say. Came up with some story. Lol Then he said, "why didnt you accept"? I said I accepted on Uber had I accepted Lyft also you may have been charged a cancellation fee. We noth laughed. It happens to drivers all the time. I guess we both play games:)

  • Lyft is becoming one hated company really fast. Even worse than Uber. I am noticing a big drop in request. I was in a 3.3X surge last night that lasted over an hour. Not one ping on Lyft. They were college kids also paying that high surge and avoiding ordering a Lyft. Something is up. Even in Wildwood NJ Uber surges (multiplier) people are still ordering Uber not Lyft. I think Lyft may be on its way down and possibly out. We will see.

  • Most drivers will say hello, how was your day or how are you? If you give them brief answers they will most likely leave you alone. They pick up on you want no conversation.  If not just simply say " i've had a rough day looking forward to a quiet ride. I have some work to do dont mean to be rude and not chat.  My favorite I would love to have a quiet ride, short and honest. Or lie "I am putting my headphones on to listen to some music didnt want you to think I am ignoring you". Personally I would rather rider just be honest takes the guessing out for the driver and you get what you want. Nothing wrong with being honest and direct. At least greet the driver and tell them to have a nice day at end of ride. There are some drivers that dont like to talk and prefer no conversation.

  • There is an interview on You Tube with Taha Abassi, TRYP'S Chief Technology Officer. Uber Hints Channel on You Tube. If you are curious and want some answers watch this interview. I did watch it. Jury still out. It all sounds good but is it all true? You do not actually have to put money upfront.

(Kevin) The Apptrepreneur also did an interview with Taha Abassi you can check out if interested.

  • I spoke with daughter and her 3 friends. They all seen him go through the red lights. They all seen him with phone in hand trying to show their friend something on his phone. The friend that was upfront asked him to put the phone back on mount. The 2 lights were less than a minute from destination.  I gave him a 1 star and did report it Uber. I did feel bad but he put my child, her friends, and other cars on the road in danger. Does he do this often? How many other times has he done it? I seen his rating was a 4.80. I should have requested another driver as there were 8 in the area. I was in a rush. However when I pulled up the trip the next day he was at a 4.79. Dont know if the 1 star I gave him  caused it to drop. Uber sent back a message that they will review the trip and gave me $5.00 Uber cash. I dont care about that. That doesn't make it all better. I just hope they look into this properly. The email started with "sorry for the inconvenience". It should've started with sorry this driver put your family in danger:) The whole thing with him not speaking English was strange. I texted him to let him know he was getting my daughter not me. I gave him her name. He answered back. My daughter said "mom if he cant speak English why was his GPS in English"? Lol He obviously could read  English if he was searching on his phone to show her friend something because she dont understand russian. I think he probably pulls the non english speaking so he dont have to talk to riders if he dont want to:) I guess I just needed to hear other drivers would do the same thing:) Thanks for responding, appreciate it.

  • Be careful lots of scams going on. Remember Uber will not call you. It is extremely rare. They will usually only call you after you notified them of an issue. As far as riders go if they names look fake to you dont risk it. Its not worth 10.00. You did the right thing. Happy to hear they nothing went wrong. What city are you in?

  • Thanks. I try. Feel free to question anything I post I will be happy to clarify. My post are always long so I try to cut it back and may end up taking info out that explains things:)

4 years ago in  Uber Driver accused of trying to kidnap a 15 yr old female.

I have been around for 54 yrs seen many changes. What goes on in todays world is frightening. I live in Philly thankfully in the better part. How long it stays that way who knows. Every other day people are being shot and killed here, drugs are rampant everywhere, there is no regard or respect for human life. It's a scary dangerous world we live in. Things need to change. Wish I had the answers. The only hope we have is there are still some good people left in this world. Thank you Lilly I will. Thank you for the sticker it came today.

After reading and hearing everything that was going on & how bad they treat the drivers I would be extremely skeptical. I would try a few hrs per week but nothing more. How or why would you want to work for these companies? I will hang a little while longer for personal reasons.

  • So true. I swear Dara has posters all over his bedroom wall of Jeff Bezos. Meditates every day and chants " i will take over the transporttation industry, I will be like Jeff, the Amazon of transprtation, I will own it all, I have the money and the power. I will crush all human drivers bring on the robo cars". Lol  I think Dara K is an egomaniac. Lyft, well they  just copy and follow Uber. Too stupid to run their company on their own.

  • They are absolutely evil people who run these companies. Unfortunately the only ones noticing are the drivers. Riders dont seem to care unless it affects them directly.
