...or will they honor the price quoted?
If I schedule a future ride with Uber or Lyft , but there is a surge pricing at the scheduled time, will I be charged the extra fare?
The Guru Take
Uber and Lyft have different rules. Uber charges surge at the time of the trip. Lyft incorporates it to the estimate (in advance)
In general, yes, you will be paying the surge amount if the demand is high for the day/time you will be traveling. However, Uber and Lyft have slightly different rules.
Uber will charge you the surge pricing that is in effect at the time of the trip. You will be notified of this increased pricing a few minutes before the trip, i.e. when the driver accepts the request. You will also be given the option to cancel the ride if you are not happy with the increased price.
Lyft on the other hand will honor the estimate shown at the time you scheduled it. However, Lyft attempts to estimate and incorporate the surge fares in advance.
