"Didi Chuxing, China's top ride-hailing company, is teaming up with Japan's SoftBank (SFTBF) to launch taxi-hailing services in cities such as Tokyo and Osaka later this year."

"The announcement comes less than two months after Uber said it would start a taxi-hailing pilot on Awaji, a small island near Osaka."

Let's place bets! Who will win out?

Interesting. Uber has already lost to DiDi in China, I wonder if they will actually pull out of Japan quickly after hearing this news. It doesn't make much sense to put resources towards battling DiDi in my opinion.

Well and now with Bookings investing in DiDi...

SoftBank owns both Didi and Uber so it's basically up to them to decide.

I didn't notice before that Uber's pilot is on a small ISLAND. So weird.

Does anyone have an update on this?  How is Didi doing in Japan?

I thought the big battle ground is Australia.   and UK.

Uber is tiny in Tokyo and Yokohama.  People barely use it.  It's not even a competition.
