That's kind of a bummer. What about those stories you hear of some rich guy tipping his waitress $5K. Guess that's not going to happen.
The article says Lyft does this too, and always has. 200% of the fare, or $50, whichever is lower.
I wonder if they are trying to avoid some money laundering... "Um, sir, you have $5 million worth of Uber tips last year..."
"Campbell thinks other reasons may have factored into the tip limit, such as avoiding scams and the 3 percent fee Uber pays credit card companies"
That's interesting. I hadn't thought of that. Uber has to pay a fee on the tip itself. I can see now why they were reluctant to add a tipping feature...
Wait, do restaurants have to do that to? I guess they do. I never thought of that.
What! That is fascinating, the real reason comes out on why Uber didn't want to allow tips!
I liked Uber better when they paid drivers better, and we didn't have to feel guilty not tipping. It was wonderful. Just get in the car, and get out again when you get there. Now I feel like I'm expected to tip.
Does anyone know if this is still true?
Bummer now I can't tip my driver that 50k ;)
Don't worry, I'll take it off your hands.
