Is it true that Lyft passengers tip more than Uber passengers? Why is that? Both app offer tip options, right?

I have been keeping a detailed daily spreadsheet of statistics on my rides since the beginning of this year.

On average I get $0.41 per trip in tips from Lyft and $0.33 per trip from Uber. This compares 1,500 Uber trips to 539 Lyft trips. Read into that what you will.

Lyft passengers tip more often, but the amount that they tip is pretty much the same.

Those must be the same passengers, those that ride both. Makes sense.

Yes. very true. like dominant.  I have no idea why.  I don't really use Lyft app all that much, but when I do, I do get tipped more at a higher percentage.

I think it's because Lyft drivers seem to be more experienced rideshare travelers.  With Uber, I get tourists and people using it for the first time.  They all fumble around.  With Lyft, they are all experts. (and usually younger)

Yea I have also noticed that Lyft passengers tip better. But still doesn't mean you should just drive for Lyft - usually there are more opportunities to get pickups with Uber

Frankly, I have never noticed this. I do think Lyft pax are anti-uber because of their morals so maybe they are just better tippers.

Yes.  They do.  I mentioned this in this thread.
