This is a total scam. I have been riding the same routes via Uber for the past 5 years, LAX or Burbank airport to Santa Rosa Valley, in the hills outside of Simi Valley. Price is always under $100. Never been a problem. Last trip arriving in Burbank to Santa Rosa Valley, the surge pricing was 3x the normal amount. I figured this was a weird one-off and just did it. A normal $60 drive was now $150. FYI, this was Saturday afternoon, airport pretty empty and I was the ONLY person at ride share. There was absolutely no crush of people needing rides. Total bullshit. But, it gets worse...leaving Santa Rosa Valley for LAX Tuesday morning 6:00 a.m. Now they are saying it's 5 times more!!!! And I am totally stuck because I don't have a plan B and I can't miss my flight. So I suck it up and do it. An $85 trip was $$250. Unbelievable. I could have rented a car. And of course there is no mass of people requesting rides in Moorpark/Simi area at that time. It's just Uber doing what it is able to do.
So I am absolutely done with Uber. They don't even show the surge pricing when you get your fare estimate. You only find out when you request a driver. I can see the writing on the wall. I will now call a limo driver and schedule. It will be cheaper!
