4 years ago in  Uber's Wait Fee - Everything You Need to Know

I get charged wait time fees all the time even though I am outside, ready and waiting. There are several reasons for this. Drivers tell me the app will start the wait time before they drive onto the property so if they are waiting in traffic to pull off the street, rider is charged. Also if the property is large (like a Sam's Club) and it takes the driver 2 minutes in the parking lot to reach you, the rider is charged. And if you have groceries to load, the rider is charged even more. Lastly, there are many times that the driver does not start the trip once your in and your name is confirmed, so even though I can't control this, the rider is charged. Lastly, thank goodness I am not elderly, don't have hip/knee/back impairments, not in the middle of a frequent New Orleans monsoon or fall down between my porch and the vehicle because me, the rider, would be charged. I complained to Uber about this and they just refer me to the wait time page on their website. The Uber wait time fee is one of MANY charges that is set up to derive more money from either the riders or drivers. It's funny how it never works the way they describe. By the way,  Uber DOES NOT inform the rider when the wait time charges begin.
