4 years ago in  Confessions from a Veteran Taxi Driver (Part 1)

Normally I read the articles, the comments and chuckles once in a while depending on the topic. Reading np1948 comment, I feel compelled to comment. Uberserge, my sentiments EXACTLY. Uber and Lyft background checks are a farce, definitely not as thorough as what we go through as Taxi Drivers, at least I can speak for my City, I've done all three. Regarding np1948 experience taking a taxi (it's unfortunate), But! It's solely a broad generalization, personally if anything. Cleanliness? I'm an experienced, rare at the time, female taxi driver, pre Uber and Lyft. I've driven for several Taxi companies, collectively we took pride in our cabs, (one local company had the most beautiful cabs, you see one, you'd surely do a double take), you pick up an immaculate taxi you returned the taxi in the same condition in which you took it out, (respect for your fellow drivers). Cleanliness was never in question. It also depends on the Taxi company, as well as the driver, no matter who you drive for. Over the years, there are male drivers that I know personally, who drive for ONE particular taxi company (I won't mention it here) they're not too clean, neither are the taxis they drive. I also know and has witnessed, a few Uber and Lyft drivers get deactivated due to unkempt foul-smelling cars. Entity chosen does not negate cleanliness. Uberserge, I agree, those who choose to take Uber or Lyft in my humble opinion, do so based on price, it's cheaper than taking a taxi. I too have used the service solely based on pennies per mile. Who wouldn't? np1948, who check Uber or Lyft drivers personal cars for cleanliness, passengers?
