No. The driver receives the same pay regardless of any promo you use. In addition to that, if any of your friends who are riding along don't have the app yet the driver can get paid for signing them up to be a rider in addition to providing a first ride discount for the passenger.
This was one of the ways that Uber and Lyft were able to build a customer base in the beginning!
I've seen stuff like this and it's pretty dangerous.
I don't think anybody can realistically monitor more than 2 electronic devices as they navigate through the streets of SF. It's a tough place to drive in of itself.
