  I'm sad it's like that in DC.  I drive weekend nights in Milwaukee with drunk college kids mostly.  The police seem to be genuinely happy that we are around and I have never had a problem with any of them.  Even when you have to stop double-parked momentarily.

  I usually give a general "I hear you" or "You're not the first person to have that argument."  General discussion and doesn't take a side.
