MattC, please don't make assumptions / accuse others of poor planning if you obviously don't have the facts. You clearly make wrong assumptions before knowing the facts, which shows you tend to make up your mind regardless of any facts.
1. The ride was booked for 4:50 am.
2. I was outside the house at 4:49, at which time I checked my Uber app.
3. There was no driver waiting.
4. Instead of showing a driver on the way, the App only showed that my trip had been cancelled. It showed nothing else about any driver on the way or anything.
5. Since I needed to get to the airport, with no Uber driver assigned, I asked a friend to take me to the airport at 4:53. There was nobody else there.
6. My ride history showed a cancelled trip for 4:25 am, as well as a cancelled trip at 4:53 - there was nobody at my house when I left at 4:55 am.
I booked an Uber ride for taking me to the airport early in the morning - 4:50. An Uber driver decided to cancel my trip however, with the result that I was charged $8 AND I arrived late at the airport after a friend had to drop me off instead.
Edit: Uber did refund the $8 charge, but I would definitely NOT recommend Uber for getting to the airport on time for an early mroning flight, they still did not pitch up when I needed to get to the airport.
