Often the passenger wants to change the destination or add a stop mid-ride but can’t figure out how to on their app. I’ve tried to see if I can do it, but didn’t see the option on my app (driving in Philadelphia). It makes sense to give both the driver and passenger the option to change the destination as long as the passenger must approve the change (and update to the fare) before it goes through.
