Yes, you can. Both driver and riders
Both drivers and riders can edit a trip's final destination at any time before the driver-partner swipes End Trip.
To change a trip's destination, tap the Enter destination bar. Type in a new address. Note: This feature is not available on uberPOOL trips.
In some cities, riders also have the ability to enter multiple destination points for the same trip. On these trips, driver-partners are unable to edit the destinations. (Source-Uber)

Often the passenger wants to change the destination or add a stop mid-ride but can’t figure out how to on their app. I’ve tried to see if I can do it, but didn’t see the option on my app (driving in Philadelphia). It makes sense to give both the driver and passenger the option to change the destination as long as the passenger must approve the change (and update to the fare) before it goes through.
Tell me about it. Most drivers don't know how to change the destination and many don't want to. They are afraid they are messing up the "reservation" and thinking it'll end the trip or be charged ridiculous amount. (One asked she didn't want to be charged the change fee.)
No, the drivers cannot change it in the app, but you can just go of course and the app will adjust the fare for the distance and duration driven. Just make sure to warn the passenger that the fare may change. They should be okay with that.
In all my cases I did that, the fare changed in my favor, so don't be afraid to take requests.
If you change your destination your fare will change! just keep that in mind.
Why would a drivere need to change the destination?
When the passenger doesn't know how to so they ask, or the passenger put in the wrong destination and is asking why you are going the wrong way. You can see him doing it in front of you, plus it alerts on your phone. If you are conceerned the driver is doing something fishy ask him, also check the trip is over on your phone when you get out of the car (you should always do this, it is when it asks if you want to tip or not).![smile]()

This is a weird thread. Of course drivers can decide where to go. App or not. They are the ones who are driving. They can drive you off a cliff, wrap around a telephone poll, into a swimming pool or into a mouth of a volcano.

How do you "correct" Uber's auto destination on its map when it is not exactly the destination that I want. My work address is always wrong on the Uber's app and it is hard to "move" to pinpoint the correct destination for pickup. I have to call the drive letting him/her know where I am. Even some Uber drivers tell me the same thing that sometimes the Uber app gives wrong destination.
When you hit " change destination" as a passenger, it will alert you that it might change the cost of your trip, and will notify the driver right away. When i'm in the car and I do this, I will see the driver's phone light up that says "updated destination" and usually they just keep driving without saying a word
Ido this a fair amount as a rider, sometimes the drivers seem annoyed though...
