How much do Uber and Lyft drivers make in San Antonio?

Uber and other rideshare drivers set their own hours and can work as much or as little as they want, local laws permitting. Hence, drivers' take-home pay depends on how much they drive. Drivers keep the majority of each fare, and the rest goes to the rideshare company. Most rideshare companies collect a commission as well as a booking fee.

In San Antonio, we are seeing that drivers are making about $10~15 per hour while driving on weekdays. When drivers are more selective about when to work, they seem to be making about $20~25 per hour while driving on weekends, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

  • I make about $10–15 per hour, sometimes more. That’s after meticulous record keeping. I don’t drive after dark, though. I drive 25–30 hours per week. (I took early social security so I have limits on what I can make.)  I have a friend who drives only on Friday nights for about 6 hours. She makes about $200 on those nights. She’s young and cute so her tip money is better than mine. Of course she also drives lots of drunks. (Alesa Littlefield Van Ess)
  • Uber doesn't pay by the hour. However if you drive on the right days and times you can average anywhere from $25-$50 per hr. (Gidgit Graham)

  • About $20–25 an hour average. But that’s working 5+ hours a day and learning when the best hours are for you. You can drive for 3 hours and make $40 depending on demand. That’s before gas and maintenance though. (Arturo Gómez Tagle)

In the United States, Uber drivers make $16.02 per hour before expenses on average, according to a survey of 995 drivers. As a rule-of-thumb, many drivers assume $1.00 per mile as their net take-home after expenses.
