  I also think they raise prices if you request rides a lot, like they know you depend on them. My trip into the city has gone up steadily over the years.

  I would think it would be a red flag having a driver ask for your phone but I guess to a more naive rider it would make sense what he was saying.

  Yep, this happened to me as well. I got Uber to refund the difference though, you just have to keep emailing them over and over and over. Such a pain! I don't use rideshares much anymore.
