Have passengers ever brought up topics you’d rather not talk about?

Hey fellow drivers,

Let’s be honest… passengers can surprise us with some odd small talk topics, right?

Over the years, I’ve had my fair share of “awkward chat” moments:

The dreaded “How much do you really make driving?” — always throws me off mid-ride.

Numerous “Do you drive for both Uber and Lyft?” like it’s some grand life disclosure.

And my personal favorite: “How long have you been driving?” – I’m convinced 90% of all conversations start with that question.

But here’s the real plot twist: one day someone asked if I carry a pepper spray in case a rider gets too handsy. I laughed, nervously. Clearly, I picked the wrong day for small talk. 🙈

So, I’m curious — what are the worst or most awkward conversation starters you’ve had to dodge as a driver? And, bonus points if you managed to defuse it with a smooth or funny reply. Would love to swap stories (and strategies for escaping chat speedily).
