Want to reserve? Good options at JFK Airport
If you would like to reserve a car in advance, it must be Limos, Uber, or Lyft. You could call a local taxi company too, but with the abundance of taxis in queue at JFK, you probably don't need to.
Remember that with Uber, Lyft, or taxi, you would be searching for the car while standing on the curb. If you want a more personalized service where someone is waiting for you inside, you could go the route of a limo.
In terms of pricing, please use RideGuru's comparison calculator to see which one is the cheapest. UberX seems to have the lowest prices from JFK to midtown, but this can change depending on various factors. Make sure to schedule a ride following the instructions here:

Quick caution: Uber and Lyft do NOT guarantee a car, because their drivers are "on-demand". There is no way for the companies to make sure there will be ample drivers in your area in advance. This should not be a worry at JFK though.
