Can I take my pets on UberPool or Lyft Line?
The Guru Take
Pets on UberPool / LyftLine
Both Uber and Lyft have policies that leave pets up to the individual driver's discretion (not including service pets). This means that if you want to take your pet into the car with you, you must call your driver ahead of time to see if it is ok, and if not, you will have to cancel your ride and request a new car.
However, when driving in an UberPool or LyftLine, the driver isn't the only person you should take into consideration. While it would be unrealistic to contact the other passengers in the vehicle, it is important to consider how having your pet would impact your fellow passengers. People could be allergic, or have other issues with having pets in the car. And frankly, in a shared ride, there may not even be room in the backseat for your furry friend.
There isn't a formal rule stating "yes" or "no" to bringing your pet with you into a shared ride, besides getting the driver's permission first. It is one of those things that you will have to decide for yourself after getting driver approval.
UPDATE: Pets not allowed on UberPool.
I am adding to Felicia's Guru Answer. As of now, Uber no longer allows pets to be carried onto UberPool.
"Out of respect for other riders, unless you have a service animal, pets are not allowed on uberPOOL trips. " https://help.uber.com/h/94ddcfe8-5339-4e78-a3af-3667dec55362
With Lyft, it is still up to the discretion of the driver.

So it's up to the discretion of the driver? Doesn't that mean I have to keep getting hitched a driver but i can keep getting my rides cancelled? How does that work? Seems pretty inefficient.
Also...I know there won't be a cancellation fee if I cancel within the first 2 minutes, but wouldn't that give an incentive for the driver to NOT reply to you for 2 minutes?
What if you need to take you dog or cat to the vet. Are there drivers that will take you and pet to a vet or animal emergency hospital?
