This was such a knee-jerk reaction during the worst team. We all said it was stupid to introduce a new taxi fleet amidst the rise of Uber and Lyft. I mean, this was launched five years ago!
But five years after they first rolled out, the initiative is running on fumes as more drivers switch to black cars, leaving outer-borough street-hailing riders to choose between ride-sharing apps such as Uber and illegal gypsy cabs.
The city sold 6,000 permits the first year and said the fleet would grow to 18,000 by 2016.But the numbers never materialized, and now the program is in a free fall.

is uber so dominant that they got sick of beating up yellows and decided to beat up greens too?
