What in the world is an Uber Fuel Card?

No longer exists as of April 24, 2018. Discount card for Gas, Maintenance and Cleaning.

Uber Fuel Card was a program Uber offered its drivers that gave them discounts on certain expenses, such as fuel, maintenance fees, and cleaning fees.  It worked very much like a credit card (i.e. accepted at "gas stations" Master Card is accepted), and the drivers could charge up to credit limits, which was different for each driver. (Usually $100~200, depending on how frequent you drove.

The amount charged was taken out of the driver earnings directly, so it saved the hassle of paying it off after every month. The card also provided "discounts", by deducting the money you owe by at least 1.5% of the expenses and/or 15% of fuel expenses.    

So in essence, the card provided discounts and convenience for its drivers.

This program has been terminated as of April of 2018, and it has been replaced by the new Uber Visa Debit Card, that offers its own perks.
