Deactivation Pending????
I have been driving for about a year now, with over 3,500 rides and a 4.95 rating. I just received …
California still has surge multipliers? I've been on the flat dollar surge for quite awhile now in the RI market!
I don't have one handy as the last time it happened was a couple hundred rides ago! Lol. I'll keep an eye out for another one and post it.
Surge sticks with the driver but if you end up picking up a rider after the surge or in non surge area the rider does not pay that. Uber actually ends up eating that on their end.
Are riders seeing multipliers even though the driver sees a flat dollar amount for the surge?
No, I don't believe there's anything prohibiting them, except for cost...I know Uber Eats takes a healthy percentage, not sure of the others.
Newport, RI. Uber Eats only partner in my area is McDonalds...lol. Doordash just started servicing my area May 9 and a significant number of restaurants have jumped on board.
My experience is only Uber Eats vs Doordash, and Doordash wins hands down in my market.
In my experience, yes! People I'd expect to give tips and those that I think no way, end up surprising me! In my area we have a big tourist industry and the workers at these hotels and restaurants do provide tips on a more frequent basis.
Where are those 41% of people who always tip? In my experience, on Uber maybe 20% of the people tip. On Lyft, maybe 25%. With such a small sample size you are not going to get an accurate picture. My results are based off of over 5,000 rides.

I drove on NYE in RI. After midnight the surge on Uber was non-stop crazy for about 2 hours...I'd get $20, $21 surges consistently (about 8-10x normal fares). As soon as I started my ride I'd get a call for another at the $20 surge....was able to make about $250 in just about 2 hours....not too bad...
I have not been active for 3 weeks....on eday it was working, next day I get the message "your account needs attention, contact Uber support". So, I contact them, they say I need to go online and consent to a background check, I tell them numerous times its been done, WITHOUT my consent btw, which is illegal, and sent them the copy 3 times. After 2 weeks my account status changed to "Getting things ready, we'll let you know when you can accept rides". So, after a week of this I called several times, with the same canned reponse you need to consent to a background check....omg, how stupid...so, finally my status changed back this morning to "your account needs attention, please contact Uber support" and when I go online (computer) to look at my profile, it has "rejected" underneath my pic. I reached to inquire about an appeal process, got a canned answer back to contact Checkr, though they don;t make any decisions. This is ridiculous....a good driver for nearly a year, one of the higher ratings in my area (according to an Uber rep) and nearly 3,000 rides without any incidents. Crazy!
Oh, I agree 100%. I've noticed that they really jack up their service fee on longer rides in surge time, so that the percentage that I net of the total rider fair is closer to 55% than the 75% we are supposed to get. Their reply is simply that our service fee fluctuates and it evens out over time. I suppose that could be the case if they have to eat the "surge" dollar amount if you get a ride after the surge is over....
It's been in my market, RI, for awhile now. It is definitely difficult to determine what the surge percentage will be but I find it seems to work ok. If a rider requests a ride during a surge, you will get a miminum, fare amount, say $5. If it's a longer ride they apply a multplier, though I haven't figured out yet how that's calculated. Where it works really well though is after the surge. So let's say yo ugo through an are showing a $10 surge. You get no ride requests and the surge ends...however, on your next ride, you will get $10 added to your fare even if it's just a short trip. Uber actually seems to lose money on this as this $10 is not tacked onto the rider's fare.
Well, I hope you are correct.
Yes, when I refer to partnership I am referring to be being a driver (partnership was their word actually). I have no criminal record of any kind...it was just so odd, given that I've been driving for them for about a year, with no issues whatsoever!
Thank you....no one has asked for anything, all they said is if yo udisopute any of this info go on to Checkr...
Pretty sure...it looks official. I guess we'll see.
Well, I was deifinitely surprised...the email was was worded like they were considering my application to drive for them. I sent a generic email to them and their response was that they periodically review drivers. I would have thought this would have come uo with my initlal application last year.
Yes, the driver can change the destination in the Uber app...I do it frequently fo rthose riders who ask for a different desitination or are not sure where they want to go in my resort area.
