Brian...just wanted to make sure you saw this because I think this is important...and I am shocked that nobody else is talking about it on Ride Guru.

    Hi Brad,

Thank you for contacting Lyft. I hope your day is going well!

We completely understand your frustration and we can assure you that we're really thankful for all our Drivers — especially the overly great ones, like yourself — and we want nothing but their well being. We're really sorry to hear that this is not the perception you have for us at the moment, but please, allow us to change that!

According to the information we have, it's official. The Estimated trip time has been removed. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
I can assure you that your sincere comments are not only appreciated, but they are also taken into consideration for future changes.

Feedback is important to make sure that situations that make Drivers unhappy are taken care of and that a proper solution is found to help you, whether said feedback is good or bad, we rejoice in having Drivers who take time off their busy schedules to let us know how we can improve so while I can't promise you immediate changes, I can assure you that your voice is heard.

Remember we’re always willing to help you with any question or concern you have. Don’t hesitate in getting back to us if further assistance is needed.

    Best regards,

    Kevin

Sounds great because that is what I am planning on doing. What worries me is that Uber will one day decide to arbitrarily do the same thing. You wouldn't think so...but Lyft obviously has no problem with it. How is it that you have not noticed it on your Lyft app yet if this is indeed a new official policy, as he told me?

Hope it is a fluke...because I was getting ready to just drive for Uber. BUT Uber doesn't really pay for long pickups either...Telling us it is likely or possible that we will receive a long pickup fee is not the same as actually getting one. Even if we do get something, it is always negligible. Either way, they never make it worth your time to drive 20 minutes to get someone.

yeah that'd be great. Would love to see if it's just me.

That is amazing you do that with the ride requests. Not only does Lyft constantly remind me that my acceptance rate is low every second...I sometimes feel they are going to come out of the app and punch me! And yet here you are waiting for the big ride...you got a suit of armor.

All kidding aside, are you absolutely certain that Lyft (and Uber) doesn't secretly penalize us for that?...because I would like to try that tactic but it would probably be a little disconcerting seeing a 17% acceptance rate!

More great stuff. So what time would you start hanging out at Loves?

Great stuff! I was also thinking of parking at Yardley train station...Bristol is a little further away for me but maybe I'll find that it is busier then Yardley.

I avoid Newark airport like the plague...tolls, trips to bad roads in Hoboken, trips to NYC (without the ability to take someone out) and short rides after waiting for 45 minutes are the reason.

If you are not registered with Uber in Philadelphia you are only allowed to bring people in to places like Philadelphia International but you can't leave the area with anybody (unless you drive for Lyft also.) Crazy part is that Uber even condones accepting the +45 trip and then calling the customer to find out if they are going to PA first! I can change my registration but I would be down for six weeks.

6 years ago in  Long Distance Pickup Fee...Yaaaay!

Unreal! So when they say that the long pickup fee is "possible" (not likely) they are hoping that I won't park my car somewhere for 10 minutes on that particular trip before picking up the ride, I guess!

Come to think of it...why are there different levels of odds for getting a long pickup? It's a little weird because they put that out there with the ride ostensibly to get us to accept it...and frankly it doesn't exactly inspire me with a lot of confidence that I am going to get it.

  • No, what I meant was that it doesn't make sense that we lose points in our cancellation rate when someone cancels or does not show up. How is that fair?

Again...yes there is more security...I AGREE. But that added (maybe inconvenient) security still will get you to your goal. In this case, my goal was to get paid on the day that I made the rides...and a bank's security features would have most likely been able to get me that money. Uber chooses to look at you with a blank stare and tell you to wait 48 hours!

With all due respect, I consider banks to be very, very safe...and in most cases larger then Uber. If all a bank has to do is send a text message to me with a code number to get access to my online portal...and I'm the only one that can retrieve my email and insert that code number....then so can Uber. Just my opinion, but I have a feeling a lot of other people, including people who work at banks, would agree with this.

  • It is MYSTRO...and it works pretty well. I have used it for two days now. The main thing that I love is that it "does your paperwork for you"...switching you out of one app into another and taking you offline of the app for the company that is not offering you the ride.

Just call. There are a lot of issues that they will allow you to call about. They even changed my registration for me (different license plate number) while I waited on the phone.

Yes...that is indeed the case. It was gnawing on me so much I called back today and this did take place in April...I do have to re-register BUT, if I do that, I will have to go offline for 3 weeks...and there is no guarantee that it won't be more time! Since I just came aboard a month ago, this is something that should have been built into all online signups (from NJ) with an explanation. It is also something that should have been told to me when I visited the Uber hub at Philadelphia airport. I had gone there because I had not heard anything in 4 weeks about my application to Uber. As it turns out, the rep there told me that they hadn't even started my background check...so he sort of started the process again and it would have been nice if he had pointed this out to me. I can't think of anything more tedious then applying for clearance for the same thing twice in 8 weeks, especially when the process takes 3 weeks!

p.s. I still don't understand why every new NJ signup just wouldn't register in Philly from the outset, but apparently it has something to do with the food delivery program that Uber has. Maybe the food delivery drivers who want to deliver in NJ cannot be registered in Philly?

Thank you! I think that the overall problem with Uber is that they are too big and there is no real customer service. Sure they have phone support but there is no real listening that goes on there. They are order takers who have no emotions and drivers need to be able to have a person to talk to about things like being able to earn money as you go home and ask questions about the fairness about some of the rules...

Guru...could you please tell me what this means?: ...you should be under Uber's exception to pick up in surrounding territories/states, such as Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Is this something written and quotable that I can bring to their attention? And is there a number that we can call where we may have a little more faith in knowing that the people we are talking to actually know what they are talking about?

As for the Geofencing...I made my way to eastern Bucks County...only 7 miles from my home (in NJ)...43 miles from the airport and I was still getting the same message.
