Yes, you can drive for multiple services, such as UberX, UberXL, and UberBlack, as long as your qualifies for each service. As an example, if you own a Ford Explorer, you will automatically be signed up for UberX and UberXL, and you will receive requests for both.
You do need to keep in mind that you will get paid what's specified for each service.
There is no need to switch either. However, you can select and un-select the service you are willing to take. (Why would you disable one? Different rates! Since per trip cost is higher for UberXL and UberBlack, you may want to focus your time on those. When you are having a slow night, you can enable UberX.
