What is the difference between UberSUV and UberXL?
The Guru Take
In short UberSUV is the high-end SUV service and UberXL is the cheaper SUV service. See below for descriptions on each.
Uber XL is the Uber X forSUV’s. While a typical UberX car can only seat up to 4 people, an Uber XL will have seating for up to 6 people. Note that this is not the SUV "luxury version," cars are not required to be black or high-end.
Some of the vehicles you might ride in when using Uber XL are:
Dodge Caravan • Kia Sorrento • Toyota Highlander
Uber SUV is the luxury SUV option. This is one of Uber’s more expensive (in most cities, most expensive) option. When you select Uber SUV, a high end SUV with seating for up to 6 people will arrive to pick you up. Unlike some cheaper Uber services, Uber SUV drivers must have livery insurance.
Some of the vehicles you might ride in when using Uber SUV are:
Cadillac Escalade • Chevrolet Suburban • Lincoln Navigator • GMC Yukon XL • Infiniti QX80 • Mercedes GL-Class • Lexus LX

We've put together two pretty detailed guides about each of these services, so let me try to answer these.
UberXL is like UberX, but only with vehicles that can transport up to 6 people. If you need seating for 6, this is a great option without having to call a more expensive service.
Examples of UberXL vehicles:
These vehicles aren't always sexy, but they'll get you where you need to go. If you're going to a casual bar around town, it'll get the job done. But if you're rolling up to the club with your friends and getting out of a minivan isn't the way you want to start your night, then check out UberSUV.
On the other hand, UberSUV is one of the most expensive services for passengers, and provides luxury service that's handled by professional, licensed drivers. These vehicles are b…

Examples of UberSUV vehicles:
What's great about UberSUV is that you can split ride fares with all your friends. Meaning it's more expensive, but if you all go in on the ride, it's actually quite affordable.
TLDR: UberXL is cheap, but can still hold 6 passengers. UberSUV is luxury, but more expensive. Still holds 6 passengers.

What is nicer black or SUV? I can never tell which is better.
Well, that depends on your preference, but UberBLACK are luxury cars that can accommodate 4 passengers, while UberSUV are luxury vehicles that can accommodate up to 6 passengers.
All the vehicles on either service are nice, but it just depends if you want a car or SUV.
Hope that helps clarify!
Ah ok! So same luxury level just different sizes! Thanks!
Uber XL is quit a bit cheaper, honestly, for the price I would just recommend taking the XL. Cars for XL still have to be in decent shape!
Also, doesn't the Uber SUV need to be BLACK. Just like the UberBlack.
No Uber SUV doesn't have to be black.
I am pretty sure they do have to be black.

WHAT THE HELL? Really?!! I guess that makes sense but wouldn't that minimze the driver pool?
Also, does this mean that if I owned a luxury SUV but it's white, I can't drive it for Uber? ...and instead, I'd be an UberXL? lame.
so if i order Uber XL and river comes with Ford Focus, is this proper XL vehicle...?
Sometimes it can be cheaper to just take 2 separate UberX rides, just a suggestion.
I can never keep these two separate in my head. I know one is more expensive with cars like Escalade and the other is like normal suvs like Exlorer. but honestly, I can never remember. XL? SUV?
Yeah? UberXL is UberX. It just has an extra L on it.
Uber SUV is... like UberBlack SUV. Uber Black XL, if you will. OK, I may just have confused myself.
So a Nissan maurano wouldn't qualify for XL ?
I don't think it would as one of the requirements for an XL is capacity for 6 passengers. For more information, including an entire list of vehicle makes and models that are allowed for each type of Uber service visit this article here.
I think if you drive for UberSUV, you can also get UberXL rides. Is this true?
The Murano? I believe it depends on whether you have a third-row seating or not. That's the only way to have enough capacity of six, i.e. enough number of seatbelts for UberXL
and I can't remember right now whether Muranos came with third-row. Anyone? It may be considered a crossover, so perhaps not.
No, I'm pretty sure they don't. They are for 5 passengers and they don't have a third-row option.
Ironically, the smaller Rogue does, and the larger Pathfinders and Armadas obviouslt do.

Why does Honda Pilot is not considering a luxury car?
Because it isn't. If it were an Acura MDX, maybe. Not sure exactly where the line is (and I know it's a great car), but it isn't at the level of Escalade, Navigator, Lexus, etc.
