Rideshares? You generally pay through the "account" or "phone."
If you are referring to the likes of Uber and Lyft, the payment would be automatic where the amount is charged to your credit card at the end of the trip. This is why most companies require a credit card to even establisn an account.
Some ridehsare companies do accept other modes of payments, such as cash, corporate accounts, check, etc., but those are rare.
With taxis, you are allowed to pay cash while on the ride.
