How to rent or lease a car for Uber and Lyft

"Hertz and Enterprise now rent cars to ride share drivers in select cities. It's expensive - around $150/week - but it's a good option to look into if you want to try driving without committing to a big car payment or lease."

I don't understand how you can make money driving if you have to rent the car. I can hardly afford to live and I own my car outright. You would make no money if you also had to pay a per week rental fee.

I think the idea is that everyone has his or her car payments already. When renting, it just happens that the check is written to the rental company instead of a car dealership or a bank.

I speak like I know what I’m talking about but I agree with you. I don’t even have a car payment and I can’t  imagine paying a few hundred bucks out of my pocket while driving for Uber.
