How to use Uber Rent

Uber Rent is Uber’s rental car feature, allowing users to reserve a rental car directly through the Uber app. Through partnerships with Avis and Hertz, Uber app users can easily book rental cars in every city in the US and in some select UK cities.

In order to be able to reserve a car with Uber Rent you must have a valid driver’s license, use a payment method that matches your identity, and be of the minimum age set by the 3rd party rental car company (each rental car company has their own minimum age). Uber Rent also requires that you book your ride with a credit card, though depending on the policy you may be able to switch your payment method later on. Please note that you may see an authorization hold on your account from the rental company. This is normal and will typically be voided within a few days.

Uber Rent prides themselves on bringing you the best prices, vehicle selection and rewards for self pick up rental cars. Optional extras such as adding insurance, additional drivers, GPS units, and child seats are also available for request. Currently the minimum rental period is 1 day and rentals can be booked from 11 months to 30 minutes prior to the start of a trip.

To book your Uber Rent vehicle simply follow these steps:

1. Open your Uber app and tap the ‘Rent’ icon
2. Follow the prompts to complete your reservation all within the Uber app. At this point you can choose to pay through the app or at the rental location. 
3. Arrive at your pick up location to get your rental car!
4. When you are finished, return your car to the drop off location specified. That’s it!
