No, you need their apps to request a ride.
Once you pull up the fares and you click on one of the options, the corresponding app should open on your smartphone, if you already have the app installed. If you do not, you will be taken to their websites where you can actually complete your booking through your web browser. So technically, you do not need their apps to request a ride. However, you do need to open an account with them.
