Is a round-trip fare simply twice the one-way fare?

For medical appointments, does original driver wait, with the meter running? Or can he leave and a closer driver take over for the ride home?

    Yeah generally it's just 2 separate trips. The first driver leaves. Hail a new ride when you need to go home.
