With the recent explosion of electric scooters across the country, there's a lot of concerns about riders safety. But here's a twist: What happens when a scooter is involved in an accident with a Uber / Lyft driver? What happens if the driver gets hurt? Scenario #1: The scooter causes the accident and the Uber driver gets hurt (pax is in the car).
If a scooter causes an accident and an Uber / Lyft driver gets hurt, they could (1) sue the scooter rider directly, (2) sue the scooter rider and scooter company or (3) pursue an uninsured motorists claim with Uber's insurance carrier.
Scenario #2: The Uber driver hits the scooter rider (pax is in the car).
Uber's insurance would handle the claim on the driver's behalf, compensating the scooter rider for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and disability.

The whole scooter thing is completely lawless. There are no road rules for them and I can see this becoming a Wild Wild West, if it already isn’t?
I wouldn’t even know how they would determine fault if a car crashes into them or vice versa. Traditional conversations go straight out the window.
Do the scooter riders even have to follow the auto traffic laws?
If you happen to hit an electric scooter bike make sure I after your run him over that you put the car in reverse and run them over again.
