I think all you can do is to complete the ride, explain to the rider the situation, and have him or her call another Uber. I mean, what else can you do? Maybe instruct the rider that he should call Uber and have a portion of the next ride comped.
I think this is a marketing mumbo jumbo. It speaks to nothing new than what we already have been hearing.
When they say, "purpose-built" and "outset" are just ways they want to advertise their partnership. They just wanted to know that Volvo and Uber are working together. That's all it is.
I don't think liability works like that. You ask, so you are immediately absolved of your responsibilities? No way. Maybe if the person lied, but not if they don't have an ID.
Oh man, they were just about to open shop in Boston and now this?
They are super careful about it though. Starting with a pilot, and helmets are REQUIRED. So much for the convenience. Not that I don't believe in helmets, it's this sort of barrier that iwll make or break this from taking off.
Zimmerman Reed is the company that was running a class action suit against Uber on the "Hell" software, which was a spyware that was tracking Lyft usage on people's phones.
I haven't heard the recent updates on the "employee or contractor" discussion. There are many other lawsuits happening around this, so I would be careful of jumping into talking with lawyers without doing some research first. Remember many bodily injury law firms are ambulance chasers and are always looking for a fight.
Haven't you guys all heard of private drivers who drive for super rich people? and how they are told to speed, break rules, and everything, because all the expenses, legal fees, and tickets are worth it to important people. They are willing to pay for those because their time is worth lots of money.
You pull over safely, like any driver would.

Retailers ban people like shoplifters all the time.
What a great question.
I don't have a great answer. LOL. I have more than 2000 rides, and I still don't know.
Those are the rides I try to not think about and reason I need a big pint of beer at the end of a shift.

This video makes it look like the competition is us holding the phone in our hand. Do they think there is no other hands-free methods?
