  I believe since you are an independent contractor, you have limited rights to your work arrangement. Lyft can fire you for no reasons at all. (except certain cases like race, color, or national origin, sex and religion.)

  It should be in your contract, and I think your lawyer would point that out right away.

  I do empathize though. It's an awful feeling to have something you have built up be taken away from you overnight. ...and it's not even your fault!  I actually feel for all the Uber and Lyft drivers who have to live in fear for losing their jobs at any given point.

  Let the capitalism do its job. Make it so if certain number of deny these garbage pings, Uber raises the rates on them. Or at least pay the drivers more so they’d be willing to accept it.

   4 years ago in  Uber and Lyft drivers, what makes you think "this is gonna be a long ride" when a passenger gets in?

  I would love to hear more about your experience around the customer demographics and how that affects the riders. 

  If you took Walmart riders, are these people with no cars hence have a lot of groceries and products they bring on your car?  Do they not tip well? 

  This stuff fascinates me. During your shift, do you try to avoid poverty areas?

  Isn’t this one of the examples where being an independent contractor and it an employee limits the protection?

  I’m not sure how much Uber and Lyft can do.

  I am not a driver, but I nervously checked my Uber app in DC all day, and there were plenty of drivers everywhere. I checked in Arlington, and the wait time was 3~4 minutes consistently (as it usually is), and then later I was in Reston (DC suburbs) and near the airport, and there were plenty there too.

  I asked the driver (an old guy) from Reston and he said, "What strike. I don't use social media." After describing to him he said, "That's good. Good for them. I hope they are making a difference." Zero remorse.  It's like he was talking about some people and events in faraway place that didn't impact him.

  So maybe the word didn't get out much?

  They have driver IDs in windshields now?  Like they used to with taxi drivers and medallions?

  I mean it’s a great idea so you can report bad Uber drivers but I didn’t know they implemented this.

  I am sure it was planned and the guy was preying on her. I mean, I am sure she didn't just hop on some random car, and he was like, "oh, what....who are you?"

  why sloppy? A guy like this is insane, stupid, and reckless. and no I have no idea why anyone would do this.

  Check your credit cards.  Many of them have roadside assistance service built in. there may be a charge (and there may not be), but you can call them up and see if they will dispatch a truck for you.

   5 years ago in  I do not have the car/clock icon and am unable to schedule an advance trip on Uber. Help please

  I can't either. Seeing another commentator mention it might be the payment method, I literally entered all the credit cards into my Uber app and I still don't see a frickin' schedule icon.

  I messaged Uber and I've heard nothing.

  Wait, what. Is "blunt" a scent? I thought you meant it as an adjective first, then you wrote it again. "Blunt Effect."  Are you talking about pot as in marijuana?  What a wonderful way to mask the ciagarettes, vomit, and marijuana smells.

   5 years ago in  How much is the cancellation fee supposed to be? I thought it was supposed to be a flat fee?

  Don't despair too much though.  That's the part of the trip you wouldn't have made any money anyways.  So imagine it as getting a ride that only lasted 5 minutes worth, after pickup.
