Marketing stunt, you know this wasn't actually an "Uber Eats Delivery" right? They just paid a bunch to get a picture of their Uber Eats logo in space.
People have definitely been deactivated for not wearing masks. Some claim they were wearing masks though so this is definitely an abused feature.
Wow, that is so sad for many reasons.
This isn't really something that is feasible with Uber and Lyft. I would recommend calling a local taxi or black car company and seeing if they would be willing to do this. OR even better, could you have a friend pick them up?
TBH I am happy to pay a little extra if it means the drivers get paid fairly and get some extra benefits. It's a rough world out there right now.
Oh, if you do not have a smartphone then it would be hard for you to get an Uber on demand. You need to have the Uber app downloaded on your phone in order to hail a car on demand. sorry!
There should be lots of taxis available though!
Yes, Uber should be available!
I do think the deadheading point is a real issue. This is what is causing the insane increase in traffic. TBH I didn't mind NYC proposal to cap the number of rideshare drivers, cutting down on deadheading and traffic.
Have you ever had a package say "out for delivery" but then it never comes. So frustrating. I think sometimes the truck driver doesn't get to all the deliveries on his truck for the day.
Yes, great insight. I sometimes think these tech devlopers just get so wrapped up in waht is "cool" without truly thinking through the idea with common sense. 12 million a mile is insane and you are right, it will definitely be more in the end. The big dig here in boston (just creating an underground tunnel highway system) was over 24 billion back in 2007! It was only supposed to cost 2.6 billion...
I think this is awesome. We need to start being more aware of our carbon footprint.
Only way to do this is to limit the number of cars or set prices to deter people from taking rideshares. Oh wait, that's taxi cabs...
Wow 6 seconds? If I had 6 seconds I would have been able to stop the car, get out, help the lady cross the street and take off again.
great insight. People love using Uber as a scapegoat, but in this instance if we are to blame anyone it really is the gov't who imposed regulations on taxi companies but not on Uber.
Right that is the thing, they may be able to get riders with cheap fares but they need drivers too. It is a fine line between cheap fares and high driver pay...
Wow, they have alwasy been so secretive about this in the past. I am surprised.
I've seen other smaller apps use this feature as their niche, "extra safety through panic button" and now Uber will have the same. It seems like Uber is just slowly consolidating all the small niche rideshare companies. I don't think anyone else has a chance. Do you agree?
A sign of the middle class booming - longer rideshare trips.
The French are always right.
Dara?
