i would recommend ordering your car about 20 minutes ahead of time, usually it doesn't take more than 10 minutes for the driver to arrive which leaves you with 10 minutes of drive time.
Probably, it is all supply and demand based and I bet there wont be many drivers on Christmas so you may have to pay more. Though in turn there may not be many people looking for rides either so you may not have to pay more at all! Now New Years you will be hit hard with some expensive fares!!
I always tell my rowdy passengers that I have a camera in the car and will report them if they do not calm down. Luckily this has only happend to me twice and both times it has worked.
Where are you located? Do you have the Uber app? If you open the Uber app it will tell you if there are any drivers near you.
What town do you live in? Perhaps there are some drivers on here from there that can help you.

There is no such thing as free.
Nope, unless you sign up for the ridepass program then you will pay a monthly fee I believe.
I really don't see any competitive advantage that Lyft has over Uber. Maybe avoiding all the negative press that seems to find Uber?

This is why you don't drink kids.
Not a chance, it will hit you soon. Be ready.
In Australia it is consider rude to not sit up front. go figure.
Uber and Lyft really are the same company, same drivers, same problems, etc. Reporters jsut love to hate on Uber. This does not surprise me.
Just order a taxi, the original "scheduled ride". Then you will know your ride is guaranteed.
