My husband and I both work (full-time) from home so we leased a car with as few miles as possible per year (12,000/year) but in the first year we are still at less than 6,000 miles. We want to pay off credit cards and I thought maybe I could drive for Uber or Lyft on the weekends to use up those 6k miles that we don't use each year, but do you think it would even be worth it to drive so infrequently?
I've already talked to my insurance and car company to make sure it's allowed, and it is.
But I've heard from drivers who I've ridden with that some days they make only $40 and it might not even be worth it to sign up and get my car "ruined" for possibly $80 a week. Plus, I know I'd have to set aside money for taxes. I do live in a big college town so I THINK I'd make more than that, but any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

What town do you live in? Perhaps there are some drivers on here from there that can help you.
It all depends on how many hours you put into it for how much you make. Many drivers love to complain about low earnings but I bet you could take home about $20 per hour if you were smart about when you drove (peak times!) and where you drove (near the campus and bars!). In the beginning it might take you a little to figure out what works best in your town but once you do I think it would be worth it.
I think it would be worth it! Especially if you have plenty of miles left to put on your leased car, I say why not!
You could always try it for yourself and see if it is worth it and if you like it! Good Luck!😊
