My prayers go out to the family of the 13 yr old girl who died a few nights ago.
Doubtful that this would've stopped this girl from killing herself but just maybe it would have. There are too many things that could go wrong when you send your child with a stranger. These parents didnt know she was taking the Uber that night but many parents request Uber or Lyft for their underage kids. Do you not read or hear whats going on in this world. The dangers? Have you not talked to your kids about talking to strangers? Why would you allow rhem to get in the car with a stranger.
Just an FYI about Uber & Lyft drivers
We do not meet with anyone from the company before or after we are hired
A 3rd Party Background check goes back 7 yrs, it doesnt check every state or anywhere out of the country. It wasnt until the past year the companies started running yearly checks
People sign up to drive and then allow other people who didnt qualify to drive to use their account. Uber has a safety (selfie check) but Lyft dont. Uber does it maybe once a month.
We are not drug tested
We dont have to have a Child abuse clearance
Fake drivers out on the road posing as drivers
How do you know the driver that is driving your most precious, most loved person in your life isnt drunk, high, distracted, or careless driver?
PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD IN AN UBER OR LYFT WITHOUT AN ADULT. IT ISNT SAFE AND ITS JUST WRONG. ANY PARENT WHO SENDS A CHILD IS JUST PLAIN LAZY, NEGLECTFUL, AND CARELESS.
I get 16/17 yr olds use this for work or school. I do understand and agree that this should be allowed but my opinion means nothing to Uber & Lyft.

Although it is against the TOS in both Driver and Rider app. Many DRIVERS will CANCEL the ride. CAUSING them to WASTE TIME, GAS, and MONEY. SOME DRIVERS will TAKE MINORS & DON'T CARE. THESE ARE THE DRIVERS YOU SHOULD BE THE MOST CONCERNED ABOUT. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR KID ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THE MONEY.
I can only speak for myself, drivers that I know, or have spoken to but I can tell you this. We hate to cancel on your child. Yes money is a big part of it but so is the fact that we hate leaving your child with no one to get them where they need to go especially when its dark out, not a great neighborhood, bad weather, etc... I have all ready cancelled a few rides and sat until a family member came and got their 16 yr old.
PLEASE DONT PUT A DRIVER IN THIS POSITION OR PUT YOUR CHILD IN A POSITION THAT CAN BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. I WOULD NOT BE HERE POSTING IF I DIDNT CARE. IF A STRANGER CARES ENOUGH TO TAKE THE TIME AND POST THIS, PLEASE REALIZE THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION YOUR PUTTING YOUR CHILD IN. KIDS RIDING IN AN UBER WITHOUT AN ADULT IS JUST REALLY REALLY WRONG!
