No, Uber rides do not need to be scheduled. Uber is an on-demand service where you request a ride when you need one. The availability depends on whether there are drivers near you or not, and the time it takes for one to arrive will be displayed, in real-time, when you open up the mobile app and check.
(There is no concept of "reservations" perse, but you can schedule the requests to go out on certain days and certain times. Here's an article about it: How To Schedule Uber Rides in Advance.)
This means that the driver availability is not guaranteed and is very dependent on where you are and when you need a ride. If you want to make a reservation, you may want to look into more traditional services, such as taxis, airport shuttles, and car services.
