Does it cost more early in the morning?
The Guru Take
Not necessarily. Probably normal.
On-demand rideshare services like Uber and Lyft have set rates for all times of the day. (There are no late night or ealry morning fees like some taxi services in some cities.) The only time the rates may change is when the surge pricing applies.
The surge pricing is a concept where your fare may be multiplied by a certain number inflating it from regular rates. This kicks in when the demands are high. (For more information, check this article: Surge Pricing Made Simple.)
So does it cost more early in the morning? Maybe and maybe note. It depends on that supply-and-demand. If there are very few drivers out there and many are trying to get to the airport for example, the price may arise.
So, all these technicalities aside? In general, surge pricing is not known to happen often during early early hours in the morning. So, I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure there are drivers working in your area so you actually have a ride!
