I'm trying to figure out how to save money by sharing a ride to my destination. Does Lyft or Uber have this option? I have the app but I can't figure out where the option is to do this? It's not that I have friends to pick up along the way. It's that I'd be willing to share the ride with others along the Route.
How do I share a ride to save money
The Guru Take
Seek for Shared Ride Options, e.g. UberPool and LyftLine
Yes, there is a way to save money on the fare by using one of the "carpooling" concepts. If you prefer to stick with ridehail companies, you can choose UberPool or LyftLine. You simply open the app, and you can swipe to select one of these options. (UberX, UberXL, UberPool, etc.) If you do not see these options, that means your location does not support the service or there are no drivers available in the vicinity offering the pooling option.
There are also other carpooling apps that are picking up popularity as well. They are more the traditional "ridesharing" companies, such as:
- Waze Pool (US)
- BlaBlaCar (UK/France/Germany)
- Rdvouz (USA)
- Ryde (India)
- ZimRide (USA)
- Noritomosan (Japan)
Good luck!
