The driver has 15 seconds.
See my driver app screen below. The white bar quickly fills that space, and once it reaches the right side of the screen, the request is no longer available and it goes to another driver.
It is also accompanied by a nice chime. You can tap anywhere to accept. (or top left to decline)

It sure feels like 5 seconds. Maybe I get too excited. I often am in a panic flenzy. Toss my burger or hatever I am holding aside, and attack the phone.
