Uber offering disability insurance, survivor benefits, and medical benefits in case of injury. The cost to driver is .0375 per mile. Uber claims all money collected will go directly to the insurance company. Not the worst thing they have offered. I need to look into it more it may not be a bad idea. The only issue I see is anything so far that Uber has done for the drivers there is always a catch.
Has anybody seen this in their market prior to May 2019? Just curious if this is in response to AB5. If they are worried other markets will follow through like CA? If anyone has enrolled in this Insurance would love to hear your opinion on it.

Never heard of this before. I feel like insurance is such a scam though, be careful.
It's been there for a while, they deduct 4 cents a mile from your pay, basically you're paying for it. The OP made it sound like it's related to AB5, has nothing to do with it
That disability insurance they're offering has been there for over a year, you're paying for it and they charge you 4 cents a mile. I've had friends who tried to use it, it takes forever to get it approved, by the time they approve it, you're not disabled any longer.
They claim its new. Not doubting you just saying what they are telling me. I thought you had to sign up for it? At least thats what it says. So we are all ready paying for this?
It's by AON insurance in CA, you pay 4 cents a mile for it, they deduct it from your fare on each ride.
Its a different company here not that it matters. What do you think about it? Worth it? One of the Uber Tubbers looking into it to see if its worth it. I would like to hear if you thinks its worth it or not. They also sent me "Uber Safety" saying GPS tracks us, call Uber support, 2 way ratings, bkah, blah, blah. Like its something new they are giving us. They are really trying. Lol To get us on their side. BUT THEY WILL NOT INCREASE OUR RATES. They give us all these little things that were supposed to be available a year ago. They word it like its something new. They need to increase rates. At the very least throw us a bone as in throw us an increase in our rates. Lol
I was going to get it but decided not to after hearing the limits on it but the approval process after an accident that my friends had to go through. You know there's no free meal.
Anything they ever offer always comes with 2 prices. First the price you pay to get the service and the price you pay to get them to pay up. They always try to make things sound good but there is always that fine print with them. They always know how to make it sound good until you start crunching numbers or looking into it more throughly then you see your screwed.
