Uber commissions capped at 25%, no upfront pricing, exact destination on each trip before accepting a ride, old surge multiplier is back, no AR restrictions etc.

Uber is Making Big Changes in California for Drivers! Is all this due to CA AB5?
I welcome these changes over the past month culminating with commission caps at 25%, showing destination, bringing the old surge …
A lot of NY drivers are locked out of both platforms since they can not complete 425 rides a month trip quota, I thought 80% Uber and Lyft drivers were part timers. Flexibility and Freedom rhetoric by both companies is just garbage!
You're not alone. I had a driver friend who's 74 taking care of 2 kids get deactivated by a DUI claim of a passenger. He has COPD, the caught syrup he takes eminates an alcoholic smell. Uber suspended his account for 48 hours telling him that an investigation will take place. They did not even call him to get his side and on the third day he was permanently deactivated a week before Christmas. He's done over 8000 rides with a 4.95 rating. So, moral of the story is, UBER is like the LAPD, shoot first ask questions later. All drivers are one fraudulent complaint from deactivation. Is it fair? Of course not, that's why drivers need a law like AB5 in CA to protect them.
But my friend is going to sue UBER in small claims court and civil court. If you can get a labor attorney to take your case on a contingency basis, go for it, you have nothing to lose.
Yes
Not true, Uber sets the rates, drivers will get to raise or lower the surge multiplier at 3 tiny airports, that's it.
I totally agree with you. I appreciate your comment!
I agree, not going to make drivers more money but the comfort of not taking shit pings is priceless.
You're not in CA I'm assuming? Major changes are taking place here as far as their IC vs employee battle, mostly positive for drivers but we always will be at the mercy of the evil algorithms.
It's called throttling and those evil algorithms, so much for flexibility and freedom. I get skunked often, it's UBER After all.

They're making big changes in CA to keep drivers as IC, they even removed the AR numbers from the drover app. I still think they're punishing drivers though.

I agree with you 100%. Written extensively about it last week and this week about oversaturation, enjoy the articles.

Great changes over the past month due to AB5 will they make the driver more money? Time will tell, but knowing destination is a big plus in order to avoid money losing trips.

How did they exactly put the screws to the drivers in CA again? I must be missing something!
What you suggested can only be done on Lyft, on Uber you must rate the passenger immediately after the trip ends, it is one and done if you want to continue receiving ride requests. Read my article regarding the subject!
https://therideshareguy.com/ratings-game/
Never knew that passengers cared so much about their rider ratings. Once you lose the 5, it's almost impossible to get it back as a driver or a passenger. I wouldn't worry too much about it 😆
I agree with you, time will tell
So much for algorithms 😆
