A lot of tourists ask this question, is there Uber in Slovenia? Long story short, no, there is no Uber or Lyft services yet in Slovenia. Debates about Uber in Slovenia have been ongoing for years. The Slovenian minister for transportation wanted to bring Uber to the market back in September 2016 reasoning that Uber services complement the existing transport system and lower the need for cars in city centers. Already at that time, local taxi companies pointed out that allowing Uber to operate as in other places, would be unfair competition to existing taxi services. A taxi car in Slovenia needs to have a measuring device installed and checked twice a year. Taxi car also needs to be inspected every 6 months, plus it pays premium insurance for the car and passengers. Another option in Slovenia is shared rides with Goopti or Nomago. From the very popular Venice airport to Ljubljana you can get a seat for as low as 20-30 eur. There is quite big competition in this field in Slovenia and with a bit of googling you can get really good deal.
