I am traveling there in a few weeks, and I'd love to be able to use Uber there. However, I heard that Uber has been kicked out of Argentina after big uproar by the existing taxi companies as well as law makers. Are they gone?
Does Uber operate in Argentina? Didn't they get banned?
The Guru Take
Uber is currently banned in Buenos Aires. However, Uber operates there.
Uber started operating in Buenos Aires in 2016. However, they have hit quite a pushback from local authorities, lawmakers, and taxi companies. They were ordered to stop operating and cease its service in April of 2017... (See article on CNN)
Perhaps not a surprised to many, especially people in London who went through the same experience, Uber did not stop its service and continue to operate. In fact, UberX operates in Argentina still to this day.

What? Did Buenos Aires try to have the credit card and cell phone companies try to block Uber?
"The ride-hailing company was told to stop business in Buenos Aires in April. Local credit card and telecommunications companies were ordered to block Uber, but the ride-sharing service continued to operate in the city."
Well it obviously didn't work.
People (those companies) probably just went to where the money is
