<added by admin - Does Uber provide courier or delivery service?>
Shipping luggage only? Can Uber deliver things for me?
The Guru Take
UberRush - Uber experimenting with delivery. Taxi companies often provide this service.
(UPDATED April 2018: Uber is shutting down its on-demand delivery service called UberRush or Uber Rush. Hence, the following article is outdated.)
"On-demand Delivery" is the way Uber describes its service called UberRush or UberRUSH. This is a form of courier service, where regular Uber drivers would accept your request for a delivery, come to your location, and delivery the package. This is promising service that provides fast delivery with real-time tracking feature.
UberRUSH is currently only available in the New York City Area (Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens), San Francisco (7X7), and Chicago. (as of 3/20/2018)
While it isn't commonly known, most taxi companies have always provided similar courier service. All you need to do is to simply make the request. It can be used for anything that they are willing to accept, and that includes food.
Comments
As a driver, I will never carry any packages. It's eerily. Who knows what could be inside that package. Bomb? Guns? Drugs? Organs? It could be anything.
I don't think I am being sensitive about this. I mean, such service, will be prime targets for these things.
This is where Uber's user accountability comes into play. No one is a stranger in the world of Uber where we know who the drivers are and who the riders are. If you ever find drugs in that package, this person will be busted for sure.
How would you know there is drugs in the package unless you open it?
Drugs drugs drugs drugs. druuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugs.
How can this be cost effective? To users, we feel it should be cheaper as they are only delivering a package or pizza or whatever, but for drivers, it's still the same drive. In fact, it may be worse as they need to potentially park and actually deliver it on the other end.
Do drivers really care for this?
Yeah, trust me. We hate it. Similar reason to why we hate UberEats.
See,the way us drivers look at it? These additional services are good to fill the non-busy times. that's all it is.
